We are recruiting volunteers to help us with Fiesta 2023, our biggest annual fundraising opportunity! Every year, UMAST sells tickets for a section of hundreds of chairs along the Battle of Flowers and Fiesta Flambeau parade route. Our volunteers assist with setting up and taking down chairs, labeling chairs with seat numbers, and helping spectators to locate their seats. Once our guests are seated and the parades are under way, you get to enjoy this amazing San Antonio cultural tradition.
You have the option to volunteer for one or both parades. Please keep your volunteer registration up to date; if your plans change, let us know immediately by contacting us or editing your registration.
If you have friends or family interested in volunteering with us, they are welcome to join and lend a helping hand. Please count them as a guest when you complete the registration form so that we get an accurate headcount of volunteers.
INFO FOR VOLUNTEERS:
On the day of the parades, please meet by the clock on the northeast corner of the Municipal Plaza Building at the intersection of Commerce and Main St. (right across Commerce from Bill Miller). This is the center of our seating section.
If you are volunteering for the Battle of Flowers parade, please arrive at 7:15AM on Friday April 28th. If you are volunteering for the Fiesta Flambeau Parade, please arrive at 4:45PM on Saturday, April 29th.
If you did not purchase a ticket for our street chair section, volunteers are welcome to bring your own folding chair to sit and watch the parade once ushering duties are complete. Our street chair tickets are sold out for both parades.
UMAST will provide some refreshments for volunteers, but we recommend that you eat a good meal before arriving. You are encouraged to bring your own water bottle and snacks. Please wear comfortable clothes and shoes, hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen.
